My home has a gas fired boiler either natural or Propane gas.

Note: gas is very dangerous, messing around with the gas valve or rearranging wires can cause an explosion or fire or cause a deadly carbon monoxide situation.

Not all gas boilers have a standing pilot light that can be lit with an open flame, some have Hot surface igniters and others have a spark ignition. If you do not see instructions on your boiler for lighting the pilot you may not have one, and putting an open flame under it may be dangerous. This guide will also apply to Peerless boilers troubleshooting
